About Us
Since being established in 1987 M. C. Lead Glaziers has grown through continual development and has gained wide knowledge and experience in all types of lead glazing from new designs as this indalo or rainbow man, as found in Spain.
New work at a Catholic school where self interpretation provokes thought and discussion for all to consider.
Peter Campling heads the team of craftspeople and together has won a Craftsmanship award in 1990 for works to repair vandalism to many windows in a Suffolk Church. Accredited by the Institute of Conservation (ICON) in 2000 and becoming an ACR (accredited conservator/restorer) has served to assure potential clients of our professionalism, quality and integrity.
Our expertise in the practical knowledge necessary to remove either ancient glass arrangements or later examples is vital to protect glass from damage when removing to conserve or repair. Our library of books on glass, windows and window arrangements dating from the 17th Century to the present day allows us advise on glazing styles when reproduction of old windows is required.
We use and supply a wide and extensive range of genuine old glasses we have salvaged and new hand made antique glass, still made to the same ancient methods. Having our own lead mill, this allows reproduction of most leads in size and profile, essential when re-leading only a portion of a section. We have both on-site and workshop facilities and can offer the complete service. Our links with iron and wood gives us the scope to refurbish or renew wood/iron casement windows frames and window ferramenta.
